Beebe Medical Foundation’s Holiday of Life Celebration to take place Wednesday, December 16

Beebe Medical Foundation will sponsor its annual Holiday of Life celebration on Wednesday, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Beebe Healthcare’s main campus in Lewes.

Members of the public are invited to share in this special evening where the Keenote Chorale will sing carols. After a short ceremony, there will be a Christmas tree lighting in memory of or in honor of loved ones. Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck following the tree lighting. Children and their families and friends will be invited into the Sunshine Café following the tree lighting to meet Santa and to enjoy refreshments.

The Holiday of Life celebration gives the community the opportunity to recognize and honor individuals who have touched their lives. Each color light of the tree represents the names of loved ones enrolled in the Holiday of Life.

In 2014, Beebe Medical Foundation, the fundraising arm of Beebe Healthcare, partnered with Women’s Health Services so as to earmark the donations for one of its programs. Last year, more than $20,000 was raised and the contributions purchased new rocking chairs and bassinettes for the Women’s Labor and Delivery Suite. This year, the goal is to exceed $20,000 for Women’s Health services. The funds raised will support maternity and prenatal services, and specifically be used to purchase comfort chairs and family sleeper chairs for use in the Labor and Delivery unit for families who are visiting.

Tom Protack, Director of Development, added, “Every year this Holiday of Life ceremony gives our community the opportunity to make a gift in honor of a loved one during this special time of year. It is amazing to see the generosity of our donors who know their gift will go directly towards our Beebe babies and their families. It is a wonderful way to remember or honor someone by making a gift for life!”

In 2013, Beebe Healthcare was the first hospital in the state of Delaware to receive the designation as a Baby-Friendly™ Hospital, reflecting its commitment to the optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother-and-infant bonding. The designation was launched as part of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) in 1991 by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Beebe Medical Foundation was established in 1989 with the sole mission to raise philanthropic support for Beebe Healthcare. Over the past 25 years, it has raised more than $55 million. The Foundation is located at 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958. Visit us online at Beebe Medical Foundation.
