George Robinson

George Robinson says he doesn't know what he would have done without his wife and daughters when he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007.

"They made sure that I did what I was supposed to, and made sure that I went to my treatments."

George's wife, Jean, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005 and he became her caregiver. By the time she was feeling stronger, he was diagnosed.

"He stayed with me during the treatments and then I stayed with him," Jean recalls. "I feel fine now, and George is getting stronger every day."

George says that since Jean doesn't drive, he drove himself to his treatments most of the time. When he needed a ride, their middle daughter, Brenda Hitchens, or their "baby," Lisa Todd, would drive him. George finished his treatments in July 2007. Cancer brought the Robinsons closer together, he says, reminding them of the importance of family. Their family includes three daughters, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
