Daniel Stoeckel Myloid Leukemia Survivor

It was a decade ago when Daniel Stoeckel was diagnosed with myloid leukemia. He was 32 and married with a 5-year-old daughter. "I didn't expect it. I was active and fit. I never felt bad for myself, but I wanted to live for my daughter." Daniel says his wife, Cristy (Murray), an Ocean View native, was the greatest. Daniel, as a lab tech at Intervet, had the opportunity to learn as much as he could about the cancer. "People were supportive, and one friend did online research for me, and it helped me to understand what was wrong."

Daniel says the cancer made him see life differently. "I don't take anything for granted, and I make the most of every day." For him, that means spending time with his wife and his daughter, Kaitlin, now a teenager.
