Cancer Survivors

Linda Norris

Ray and Linda Norris have faced the world together for 46 years. When Linda was diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to the brain in 2003, they faced that together, too. One of the things that Linda did was to take up Yoga at the Wellness Community to help her learn to breathe. Ray took up yoga too.

"He's been fantastic," Linda says. "He is my best friend and #1 supporter. He cooks, he cleans, and he never complains. I don't know what I would do without him. The family, grandchildren, and friends have been there for us with their love and support. The nurses and staff at Tunnell, oncology and radiation, have been absolutely phenomenal with their caring ways and support. Ray and I have made many friends over the five years at Tunnell."

When Dr. Pramod Vadlamani told the couple that there was a limited chance for a cure, but that he could help Linda work toward a good quality of life, they continued to do things together.

"My health has been good, and so we've never stopped golfing. We walk on the beach and we ride our bicycles."

Ray and Linda are active members of Epworth Church. He sings in the choir and she volunteers in the church office. She also participates in Relay for Life.
