Corporate Safety Officer (Full Time)

Job Type:  Full Time

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field preferred. Certification preferred (CHSP, CHFM, CIH, CSP, CHMM) or acceptable equivalency in training and experience. Five (5) years of experience in health care facility safety. Knowledge of safety regulations and codes from The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA and other applicable regulatory agencies. Holds understanding of applicable municipal, city, county, state and federal statutes/regulations as they apply to safety of the organization. Valid Delaware driver’s license because travel to satellites is required. Able to demonstrate understanding of emergency responses as they relate to overall safety initiatives. Requires a highly organized individual with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities. Computer skills include word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, E-mail, database software experience. General: Develops policies and procedures to support organizational compliance with federal, state and local agency requirements as well as accrediting bodies and licensing agencies. Monitors parameters in area of expertise and then coordinates performance improvement and training activities. Communicates information effectively. Works effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve objectives of the program. Specific: Plans, develops, facilitates and audits activities throughout Beebe Healthcare relating to general safety, fire protection, accident prevention, regulatory (to include accreditation and licensing) compliance, and accident investigation. The Corporate Safety Officer has the responsibility to immediately notify the appropriate Beebe management as to an identified safety hazard that may pose an imminent risk to life or property. Immediate action may be taken when a condition arises that threatens life/health or threatens damage to equipment or buildings. The Corporate Safety Officer will coordinate those actions with the appropriate staff to ensure patient, visitor, vendor/contractor employee, student and volunteer safety.
