Beebe Healthcare Announces Lisa Henderson Memorial Scholarship
Sydney Auen, a Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing senior student, was selected as the recipient of the Lisa Marie Henderson Memorial Scholarship.
This year’s award of $1,000 will go toward school expenses. This endowment was initiated by Mr. Wade Henderson, Lisa’s husband, in 2020 and is awarded annually for the fall semester to a senior student in Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing.
Lisa Henderson passionately worked with oncology patients for her entire 25-year career. The first 17 years she worked in private practice in Frederick, Maryland, and the last eight years with Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center. She was the Nurse Manager of the Tunnell Cancer Center her final three years. She gained respect within the Beebe organization, both with management as well as her nursing staff and her oncology doctors. But most of all, she was always an advocate for the patients' experience. It is her hope that this scholarship will assist students eager to pursue a nursing career in oncology.
Sydney, a Felton resident, was selected by the nursing leader team and then approved by the Student Services Committee. She plans to work in oncology after graduation.
