Beebe Healthcare announces new name for home health agency

Beebe Healthcare announces that Beebe Home Health Agency has a new name. The agency will now be doing business as Beebe Healthcare - Home Care Services.

The new name more accurately reflects where services are provided. Since 1985, Beebe’s home care professionals have been caring for and providing skilled services to people in their homes. Beebe home care services are highly rated by people they serve. They were recognized as a Home Care Elite for their outstanding services by the National Research Corporation and they were listed for the second year in a row as one of the top 500 in the nation. No other home care organization in Delaware has achieved this honor.

“Beebe Home Care Services is continuing to expand its outreach in Sussex and the southern part of Kent Counties,” said Joan Thomas, RN, MS, FACHE, and Beebe Special Consultant to the President. “In order to respond to the increase in demand for home care services and regulatory requirements, organizational changes were introduced.”

Dana Warrington, RN, was promoted to nurse manager, Peggy Jorgensen, CBCS, was promoted to reimbursement/financial analyst and Janet Davis, RN, BSN, was named manager of clinical coding and documentation improvement specialist.

These exciting changes not only articulate more clearly home care’s role in the post-acute care spectrum, it also creates a structure that will allow the leadership team to focus on achieving superior outcomes for all Beebe Healthcare’s strategic imperatives.

Home healthcare benefits anyone who needs skilled care to live independently at home due to an illness or disability: individuals who have acute illness or injury requiring high-tech care that can be provided at home, patients who require short-term assistance at home because of same-day or outpatient surgery, and many others who can benefit from intermittent services to prevent hospitalization due to a complication for a chronic condition.

Beebe Home Care Services works with you and your doctor to develop and manage your individual plan of care. You can receive services following hospitalization through a case manager or discharge planner who will meet with you to answer any question you may have, or you may consult with your physician.

The group also uses the Philips Telehealth monitoring system to help patients stay in their homes as they learn how to manage their own illnesses. The monitoring system allows a patient to input vital information such as blood sugar, blood pressure and heart rate. The information is then transmitted via telephone to Beebe Home Care Services. The Home Health team monitors these vital signs and can contact the physician immediately if a patient’s disease worsens. Patients are referred to the program by either the hospital or a physician.

Telehealth technology is a teaching tool that helps patients learn how to recognize the warning signs of a worsening chronic illness, so that eventually the patient can do it without the technology. At any one time, Beebe Home Care Services has about 20 patients using the Telehealth system, which is free to the patient.
