Beebe Healthcare Recognizes Mary Beth Palkon-Krytzer with the November L.O.V.E. Letter Award

Beebe Healthcare is proud to recognize Mary Beth Palkon-Krytzer, RN, a nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, as the November Living Our Values Every Day (L.O.V.E.) Letter Award recipient.

Last year, a task force of Beebe Healthcare team members met over multiple months to examine exceptional patient experiences and create a system of values, which every team member pledges to follow.

Beebe Healthcare team members have pledged to live these values every day. As a patient or visitor at Beebe, you may see these value statements posted. We invite you to help us be mindful of our values as we care for you and your family members.

Palkon-Krytzer was nominated by Gretchen Stevens, RN, a clinical nurse in the Float Pool at the Medical Center in Lewes.

Stevens recalled a time when Mary Beth went the extra mile for her patient and her team. After transporting a Cath Lab patient up to an inpatient room, Mary Beth took the time to rub lotion on the patient's sore back, got her ice water, and helped the floor staff settle the patient in. Mary Beth didn't leave until she was certain the patient was comfortable and the receiving staff was well informed.

“Not only was the patient extremely appreciative of Mary Beth's attentive care but so were her team members,” said Stevens.

Mary Beth showcased the Beebe values of doing what it takes to keep everyone safe, doing it right the first time, treating each individual with respect and dignity, and building trusting relationships with compassion and kindness. Mary Beth has received multiple L.O.V.E. notes from her team members this year and her dedication to achieving amazing accomplishments through exceptional teamwork is highly regarded. Mary Beth acts with passion and love for others. She is truly dedicated to being an expert in her field. Thank you Mary Beth for all you do!

Rick Schaffner, RN, Executive Vice President and COO of Beebe Healthcare, Catherine C. Halen, Vice President, Human Resources, and Steven D. Rhone, RN, MS, NE-BC, FABC, Vice President, Patient Care Services, were on hand to make the presentation and congratulate Mary Beth.

Beebe Healthcare’s L.O.V.E. Letter Recognition Program was established in 2015 and gives team members the opportunity to be recognized by their peers and supervisors for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program. Team members are encouraged to send L.O.V.E. notes to other team members during the course of the month. A committee then evaluates the L.O.V.E. notes and selects one to receive the monthly L.O.V.E. Letter. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee visits the winner in his or her department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:

  • Parking space in the parking garage for one month
  • $100 gift card donated by Fred and Lyndie Hertrich
  • 100 points toward Beebe L.O.V.E. Notes Merchandise
  • Letter of congratulations and personal visit from members of the executive team
  • Their photo added to the L.O.V.E. Letter wall plaque
  • Letter to team member’s director and department recognition
