Beebe Medical Foundation Honors Dr. Wilson Choy with 2018 Philanthropy Award

During the annual Beebe Medical Staff New Provider Reception, the Beebe Medical Foundation presented Wilson Choy, MD, orthopaedic surgeon with Premier Bone & Joint Care, with the 2018 Philanthropy Award.

The Philanthropy Award is presented each year to a member of the Beebe Medical Staff who embodies the spirit of giving and who has been recognized by a grateful patient through the Celebrate Excellent Care program.

“Dr. Choy is a true Beebe Believer,” said Judy Aliquo, President & CEO, Beebe Medical Foundation. “He is an extraordinary orthopaedic surgeon who has changed the lives of thousands of patients at Beebe with new knees, hips, and joint repairs.”

Dr. Choy is a member of the 1916 Club – a group of donors who have given at least $1,916 annually through Beebe Medical Foundation. He and his group – Premier Bone & Joint – have been a leading sponsor of the annual Beebe Ball. And, Dr. Choy was one of the first physicians to donate to the Foundation’s I Believe in Beebe campaign which is working to raise funds for Beebe’s largest services and facilities expansion in its 102 year history.

Dr. Choy has served on the planning committee for the Specialty Surgical Hospital, which is part of the services and facilities expansion plan. The Specialty Surgical Hospital will be located on land at Beebe’s Rehoboth Beach Health Campus and will be designed for short-stay surgery patients. This new facility will be the future home for Beebe’s Center for Robotic Surgery.

In addition, the third floor of the planned structure will be the future home for Beebe Women’s Health and labor and delivery units.

“I am very excited to help propel Beebe into the next stage of healthcare for our community,” said Dr. Choy. “The leaders of Beebe have been steadfast in maintaining and updating the healthcare system’s infrastructure and bringing services into our secondary service areas. This campaign now focuses on enhancing the patient experience with the quality programs that we already have, such as orthopaedics.”
