Beebe Healthcare team members rallied for the fourth annual “Wheels for Whitcomb” bike drive, donating 156 bikes in memory of Jerry Whitcomb.

Each year, Jerry – a beloved Beebe Team member who worked in Plant Engineering – would buy a bike for the Toys for Tots drive. When Jerry passed away in 2021, Team Beebe wanted to do something to honor and remember him for being an amazing example of living out Beebe’s values. Over the past four years, more than 486 bikes have been donated to children in our area as a part of this drive.

“Team Beebe showcased its giving spirit by collecting a record number of bikes for children in the community this year,” said Stephanie Adams, Volunteer Services Manager and co-chair of the Wheels for Whitcomb Drive. “Special thanks to Brittany Mazzetti, co-chair of this drive, and everyone who participated. From purchasing bikes to organizing their collection to loading and executing their delivery – this was a full-on, all-Beebe effort.

“This drive has become a special, feel-good way for Team Beebe to band together and spread cheer to those who need it. We hope Jerry would be proud of the generosity he inspired.”

Over 50 departments participated. People from all over the healthcare system, including some of Jerry's former colleagues from Plant Engineering, gathered on Friday, Dec. 13, to load and transport the bikes to Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots will oversee the distribution of the bikes to families in need.
