Beebe’s Two Comprehensive Cancer Centers Certified as Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Programs

Beebe Healthcare’s Oncology Services is proud to announce that it has earned recognition as a Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification Program. This certification is presented by the American Society of Clinical Oncology and recognizes cancer programs that deliver high-quality hematology and oncology care in outpatient settings.

Both the Tunnell Cancer Center and the South Coastal Cancer Center have earned the certification.

QOPI certification is awarded to hospitals and medical practices across the United States that are recognized as champions of quality care, and that are committed to providing access to quality-centric and safe care, in alignment with standards specific to outpatient oncology settings. Certification requirements are established by a steering committee comprised of oncologists, researchers, nurses, and other leaders working in the field of oncology.

QOPI certification affirms that Beebe’s oncology providers are meeting standards in all areas of treatment for cancer patients cared for on an outpatient basis. This includes treatment planning, staff training and education, patient consent and education, chemotherapy orders and drug preparation, safe chemotherapy administration, and monitoring and assessment of patient well-being. The certification is valid for three years and affirms Beebe’s commitment to quality care, in positioning its value to patients, payors, and the medical community at large.

“As Beebe has continued to grow our oncology service line, the delivery of safe and quality care has remained our top priority, and our ability to earn QOPI certification through the American Society of Clinical Oncology exemplifies that commitment,” said Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Oncology Services. “We are proud to be one of about 300 oncology programs to achieve this certification and are grateful to all of the members of our oncology care team who have worked so diligently to build and maintain an environment of care that centers around quality.”
