The Miracle Angels of Israel United Methodist Church of Lewes presented Beebe Medical Foundation with a gift of $5,500 to support Beebe Healthcare’s Oncology Services “Patient Special Needs Fund.”

The Miracle Angels, under the leadership of Rev. Marjorie Belmont-Burns, had always raised funds through a multitude of community fundraising activities including yard sales, bake sales, and special events. These activities came to an abrupt halt at the beginning of the pandemic, but this did not prevent family and friends of Israel United Methodist Church, Indian Mission United Methodist Church, Friendship United Methodist Church, and St. John Second Baptist Church from continuing to make their annual donation to help Beebe’s Oncology Department.

“We are so grateful to Beebe and our members,” Miracle Angel member Sister Betty J. Streett said. “Our hearts are filled with compassion, love, hope and great joy to be advocates for cancer patients in need within our very own community.”

The Miracle Angels of Israel United Methodist Church have been involved with raising funds for cancer survivors since 1999. For the past 12 years, all proceeds have been donated annually to the “Patient Special Needs Fund.” The Miracle Angels chose Beebe so that the donations would stay in Sussex County and help local cancer patients and their families at the Tunnell Cancer Center and the South Coastal Cancer Center.

“Cancer treatment can cause so many hardships for patients and their families. This amazing donation will go toward assisting those in need so they can focus on their health, instead of facing financial hardships,” said Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Beebe Healthcare’s Oncology Services. “I want to extend our sincere thanks to the congregations of the Israel United Methodist Church, Indian Mission United Methodist Church, Friendship United Methodist Church and St. John Second Baptist Church for their dedication and continued support of Beebe Oncology Patients.”

As a community-based, not-for-profit healthcare system, Beebe Healthcare depends on the generous support of individuals, local organizations and businesses, corporations and private foundations. Please contact Beebe Medical Foundation to make a gift.
