‘Walk With A Doc’ in October Featuring Fellowship-Trained Breast Surgeon Matt Richards, MD

Beebe Healthcare is welcoming the public to “Walk With A Doc” at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at George H.P. Smith park in Lewes.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this month’s featured “doc” is Matthew Richards, MD, a board certified surgeon and fellowship-trained breast surgeon with Beebe’s Center for Breast Health. Dr. Richards and the team at the Center for Breast Health collaborate with Beebe Oncology Services for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer.

“When women are diagnosed in early stages of the cancer, they have a better chance of long-term survival than in later stages when it has spread,” Dr. Richards said. “This is why annual check-ups and screenings are critical so that treatment can be initiated as early as possible. I’m excited to participate in this event and shed a little more light on the importance of screenings and mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Beebe started “Walk With A Doc” events this summer and many community members have had the opportunity to walk with physicians such as bariatric surgeon Christopher Manieri, DO, Family Medicine Residency Director Joyce Robert, MD, cardiothoracic surgeon Marisa Amaral, MD, with the occasional visit from Dr. David Tam, President & CEO of Beebe Healthcare.

Community members are able to ask the docs questions about the services they provide but also get to know them on a personal level. The fun free event is held at the park right behind the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus. Visit the Walk With A Doc registration page to sign up.
