Sarah Hawtof Donates a Children’s Toy Cart to Beebe Healthcare as Girl Scout Gold Award

Soon-to-be college freshman Sarah Hawtof raised a total of $655 dollars allowing her to assemble and donate a cart full of varied toys, books, games, and an iPad for pediatric patients to use during their stay at Beebe Healthcare. As a Girl Scout for the past 12 years, this service project served as Ms. Hawtof’s Girl Scout Gold Award, representing the highest achievement in Girl Scouting with projects that have sustainable impact in their communities and beyond.

“Beebe Healthcare is very thankful for Sarah’s donation; her efforts serve as a good example for other kids about the importance of paying it forward and will no doubt help brighten our pediatric patients’ stay while at the hospital,” said Bridget Buckaloo, MSN, RNC-OB, Executive Director of Women’s and Children’s Health Services at Beebe Healthcare.

When trying to identify a need in the community to focus on for her Girl Scout Gold Award, Sarah’s passion for children lead her in this direction. She sold baked goods at Beebe’s 100th Anniversary Fun Fest as well as fundraised from private donors in order to pay for the items of the children’s toy cart.

“Sarah’s service project also promotes the value of Scouting – helping teenagers understand what they are bringing to the community, and thinking broader than themselves,” said Lisa Klein, Nurse Manager of Beebe Healthcare’s Women’s Health Services.

“We are grateful for Sarah’s dedication to make this wonderful gift a reality. Her passion to make a difference to children who are at Beebe is so inspiring and touching,” said Judy Aliquo, CFRE, President & CEO, Beebe Medical Foundation.
