Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center to hold free skin cancer screening

Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center will host a Skin Cancer Screening event Tuesday, May 17, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Center’s location, 18947 John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) in Rehoboth Beach.

Residents who do not already have a dermatologist are eligible to participate in this free event.  Pre-registration is required by calling Debbie Campbell RN, MSN, Cancer Screening Nurse Navigator, at (302) 645-3169.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. Ninety percent of nonmelanoma skin cancers are associated with exposure to the sun. Skin cancers are highly treatable when detected early, but can become disfiguring and even deadly if allowed to grow.
