Beebe Healthcare Celebrates National Cardiovascular Professionals Week, February 14-20

Beebe Healthcare is excited to celebrate National Cardiovascular Professionals Week, February 14 to 20, 2016.

The week celebrates the work of cardiovascular practitioners across the country.

Beebe Healthcare’s Cardiac & Vascular Program has had several accomplishments this year. The Vascular Lab, Adult Echo Lab, and Nuclear Cardiology all received re-accreditation. Invasive Cardiology (Cath Lab) was recognized with the Platinum Performance Achievement Award and Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care Program. Our Cardiac Rehab and Ornish Reversal Program moved into beautiful new facilities at the Beebe Health Campus on Route 24 near Rehoboth Beach and continues to grow.

Beebe Healthcare’s Cardiac & Vascular Services currently encompasses Invasive Cardiology, Invasive Vascular Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Vascular Lab, Stress-testing, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac Rehab, the Ornish Reversal Program, and Cardiac Surgery.

“Please join us in saying thank you to our dedicated team of nurses, technologists, exercise physiologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, support staff and physicians who achieve amazing accomplishments through exceptional teamwork,” said Eric Schweitzer, Manager, Invasive Cardiac & Vascular Services, Beebe Healthcare.

Spotlight on the Invasive Cardiac & Vascular Lab
Beebe Healthcare’s multidisciplinary team is made up of nurses, radiology technologists, registered cardiovascular invasive specialists, cardiovascular techs, and nurse practitioners. They are specially trained for invasive cardiovascular procedures such as right and left heart catheterizations, angioplasty, stenting, pacemakers and ICD implants, electrophysiology studies and ablations.

Together, the Beebe team has more than 200 years of invasive cardiac and vascular experience, among 25 staff members. In the past year, the team has treated more than 1,500 patients and performed over 450 angioplasties in Beebe’s three procedure rooms. In the 13-bay holding area, the team prepares and recovers patients, as well as performs cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms.

“The Cardiac and Vascular team puts the heart in the Heart Code Team. The national guidelines for treating emergency heart attacks (STEMI) is 90 minutes. Beebe’s average door-to-balloon time is 56 minutes,” said Schweitzer. “Time is muscle!”

“I would like to thank each of our team members for their dedication and commitment to taking the best care of our patients at Beebe Healthcare,” Schweitzer said.
