Beebe Expands Bariatric Surgery Education for Community
Submitted by Rachel on
In an effort to meet the needs of our community, Beebe Healthcare’s Bariatric Surgery team is expanding its class offerings in Lewes.
Beebe Healthcare is now offering a Bariatric Support Group. The group meets the second Saturday of the month at Beebe Healthcare’s South Conference room at the Lewes campus from 10 a.m. to noon. This group is for all those who have had bariatric surgery, no matter where they had their surgery, and for those considering bariatric surgery.
In addition, Beebe Healthcare’s Bariatric Surgery team will be offering a Pre-Op Education Class on the fourth Saturday of the month at Beebe Healthcare’s South Conference room at the Lewes campus from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a second location for these classes, which are also held in Salisbury. This class is for those who are scheduled to have bariatric surgery at Beebe Healthcare.
Beebe Healthcare offers two procedures for weight loss through its Bariatric Surgery program. These include gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Both can help patients lose weight and keep it off.
Losing weight and keeping it off isn’t easy. Some people struggle with making lifestyle changes necessary to succeed at losing weight and keeping it off. Excess weight can make even every day chores such as walking up a flight of stairs or carrying groceries difficult. Excess weight can also lead to medical problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary artery disease, osteoarthritis and sleep apnea.
If you are struggling with making the lifestyle changes necessary to succeed at losing weight, bariatric surgery may be an option for you.
If you are considering bariatric surgery, talk to your primary care physician, come to a support group meeting, or talk to the Bariatric Surgery team by calling (302) 313-2000, or visiting https://www.beebehealthcare.org/patient-care-services/bariatric-surgery-and-weight-loss-surgery.
