Tenth Annual Walk to Remember Set October 12
Submitted by Rachel on
Beebe Healthcare Perinatal Loss Support Services will sponsor the Tenth Annual Walk to Remember at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 12, at the George H. P. Smith Park, Block House Pond, in Lewes. In case of rain, the event will be held the following Sunday.
The walk recognizes pregnancy loss and allows parents, their friends and families, and other supporters an opportunity to remember babies who have died during pregnancy or after birth.
Beebe’s event is the only Walk to Remember that takes place in Delaware. Similar walks take place nationwide each fall in honor of October’s designation as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
Registration for the half-mile walk begins at 1:30 p.m. Participants will gather at Block House Pond before the walk, and then will proceed along the paved walkway around the pond. After the walk, a short memorial service will take place to honor the memory of babies who have died through tubal pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, and infant death.
All parents will receive a memorial T-shirt at no cost. Friends, families and supporters may purchase a T-shirt for $10. For more information about the walk, to pre-register, or to provide contributions, contact Terri Wyatt at the School of Nursing by calling (302) 645-3251.
