Beebe Medical Center Opens New Walk-in Care Center in Millville
Submitted by beebemed.org on
On Memorial Day weekend, Beebe Medical Center will open the Beebe Health Campus – Millville Walk-in Care Center for visitors and residents whose primary care physicians are unavailable. The Walk-in Care Center will be open daily, seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer season. The hours the center will be open during the fall and winter months will be posted before Labor Day Weekend. No appointments are necessary.
The Walk-in Care Center is in the Creekside Plaza on Route 26, just five miles west of Route 1. Located in the same shopping center are the outpatient services Beebe Imaging, Beebe Lab Express and Beebe Rehab (which offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speak language pathology).
The Walk-in Care Center is in the same building that previously housed a Beebe emergency center.
The transformation from an emergency center to a walk-in care center occurred in response to consumer demand. Patients formerly treated at the emergency center had to be billed at emergency room rates, regardless of reason for their visit. Because of ongoing changes due to healthcare reform, patients have found that in many cases their insurance companies do not pay for emergency room visits for non-emergency situations. The Walk-in Care Center allows patients to receive non-emergency and immediate care at a more affordable price. Examples of the illnesses and health problems that will be appropriate for treatment in the Walk-in Center include:
•Cough, cold, flu
•Upper respiratory infections
•Strep throat/Sore throat
•Minor eye infections, pink eye, stye and abrasions
•Sprains and Strains
•Minor burns, cuts and simple lacerations
•Uncomplicated neck and back pain
•Incision and drainage
The telephone number at the Walk-in Center is (302) 541-4175.
In the event of a life-threatening illness or accident, please call 911. This will allow the patient to receive immediate, emergency treatment by emergency responders and to be taken to the nearest suitable hospital emergency room.
