Ajay Koirala, MD, is a hospitalist at Beebe Healthcare. He provides comprehensive care for adult patients undergoing treatment in the hospital for a wide range of medical issues. Additionally, Dr. Koirala serves as a trusted consultant for Beebe’s surgical teams, offering clinical perspective and guidance as operative cases are planned and performed.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. Koirala is a graduate of the Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree as a full scholarship candidate. He went on to complete an internal medicine residency at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Dr. Koirala is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Nepal Medical Association, and the Nepal Medical Council. He is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and has also served as a contributor for the Journal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives.

Earlier Work Experiences

Prior to joining Beebe’s medical staff, Dr. Koirala worked at Reading Hospital and Medical Center as a nocturnist. During that time, in addition to his clinical work, he devoted time to teaching medical residents with focus on rapid response. Earlier in Dr. Koirala’s career, he served as a House Officer for three different medical centers located in Nepal.

Personal Notes

Dr. Koirala and his wife, Akanksha (an oncologist who is also part of Beebe’s medical staff) are proud parents to two children – Ayaan and Anaya. The family enjoys hiking, taking long walks, and exercising together. Additionally, he is a soccer enthusiast; he enjoys playing the game himself as well as watching local tournaments. Dr. Koirala speaks Nepali and Hindi in addition to English.
