Akanksha Kushwah, MD, is a medical oncologist at Beebe Healthcare. She provides care for patients at Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center in Rehoboth Beach. Dr. Kushwah focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of solid cancers and has a specialized interest in gastroenterological and thoracic malignancies. She values the opportunity to practice in a community-based hospital setting, as a member of Beebe’s medical staff.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. Kushwah earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science degree from the Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal. Following graduation from medical school, she pursued residency training with focus on pathology at the Institute of Medicine at Tribhuvan University, also located in Nepal. Upon relocation to the United States, Dr. Kushwah’s training continued with an internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee and a fellowship focused on hematology and oncology at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania, an affiliate of Tower Health. Dr. Kushwah is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Medical Council of India, and the Nepal Medical Council.

Earlier Work Experiences

Dr. Kushwah joined Beebe upon completion of her fellowship training. Earlier in her career, she served as a research associate, a medical observer, an attending pathologist, and a house officer for various medical institutions located in the United States, India, and Nepal.

Personal Notes

Dr. Kushwah is fluent in English as well as Hindi and Nepali. Outside of work she enjoys spending quality time with her husband (also a member of Beebe’s medical staff) and two children. The family enjoys hiking and playing board games.
