Andrew Foy, MD, is a general cardiologist who practices at the Beebe Cardiology Lewes as part of the Cardiovascular Institute at Beebe Healthcare. Among the most common conditions he diagnoses and treats are chest pain, lipid disorders, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and syncope. He also has a specialized interest in the management of hypertension, in benign, resistant and renovascular forms. Dr. Foy is extensively published and has earned an international reputation for his commitment to continuously advancing cardiology care for the benefit of patients and communities.
Education, Training, and Credentialing
Dr. Foy earned his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and remained there to pursue residency training in internal medicine. He then went on to complete a Cardiology Fellowship at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he was the recipient of the Department of Medicine’s Annual Award for Excellence in Research as a Fellow.
Earlier Work Experiences
Prior to joining Beebe, Dr. Foy worked as a general cardiologist at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine with appointments in both the Departments of Medicine and Public Health Sciences. While at Penn State, he carried the title of the “Robert F Zelis Junior Faculty Research Scholar.” During his tenure there, Dr. Foy received numerous university-wide honors that included “outstanding research publication” in 2018, and “outstanding collaborative research team” in 2020. He also received a scholarship in education award in 2022.
Dr. Foy is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has earned an international reputation as a scholar. He is on the editorial board of multiple medical journals and in 2024 was named as a Distinguished Reviewer for the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Additionally, Dr. Foy served in the United States Army Reserves and National Guard for nearly a decade, as a General Medical Officer.
Personal Notes
Dr. Foy was born and raised in Delaware and attended the Salesianum School in Wilmington. He and his wife Megan are parents to three children. In his free time, Dr. Foy enjoys fishing, cycling, and playing golf. He is also an avid boxing enthusiast.
