Barbara Atkins, FNP

At Beebe Healthcare

Barbara Atkins, MSN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who works at Beebe’s Walk-In Care Centers located throughout Sussex County. She provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages with illnesses and injuries that are not life threatening, yet require prompt medical attention. As she is seeing patients with minor illnesses and injuries, Barbara is also responsible for ordering and interpreting imaging. Additionally, she offers sports physicals.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Barbara earned a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Wilmington University. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware and an Associate’s degree from Delaware Technical & Community College. Barbara is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Earlier Work Experiences

Prior to joining working in the urgent care setting, Barbara worked at Beebe as a charge nurse on the observation unit for many years. Prior to that, she served patients on various units as a float pool nurse. Earlier in her career, Barbara worked as a travel nurse for Onward Healthcare and as an admissions nurse for the Christiana Care Visiting Nurses Association.

Personal Notes

Outside of work, Barbara loves opportunities to be creative! She enjoys crocheting and making stained glass art. She also enjoys relaxing by the pool and spending quality time with family and friends.
