ABOUT THE PROVIDER

At Beebe Healthcare
Benay Johnson, DNP, NNP-BC, CPNP-PC, is a neonatal nurse practitioner who practices at Beebe Healthcare as part of Beebe Medical Group. In addition to providing emergent care to newborn babies in need of specialized medical attention immediately following birth, she serves as a critically important liaison for Beebe’s clinical providers on both the women’s health and pediatrics services teams.

Education, Training, and Credentialing
Benay earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University College of Nursing in South Orange, New Jersey, where she completed a special project focused on improving neonatal resuscitation readiness. Additionally, she attended the Columbia University School of Nursing in New York, where she earned a University Statutory Certificate as a neonatal nurse practitioner. Benay also graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from California State University. Committed to the continued optimization of clinical care services for patients and their families, she has devoted significant time to clinical research over the years. Most notably, Benay has presented at numerous professional conferences and her work has been published in the Journal of Pediatric Health.

Earlier Work Experiences

Most recently, Benay worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner in the Well-Baby Nursery (WBN) at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Prior to that role, she worked as a neonatal nurse practitioner at BronxCare Health System in the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Earlier in her career, in addition to her clinical work in several hospitals on the east coast, Benay dedicated time to teaching and research. She is an adjunct faculty member in the department of clinical pediatrics at her alma mater, Seton Hall College of Nursing. She also worked as a clinical research nurse and faculty member in the department of pediatrics at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian and the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.

Personal Notes
Benay and her husband relocated to Sussex County from New Jersey in early 2023. She was thrilled to identify an unexpected opportunity to work as a Doctorate-prepared neonatal practitioner, at Beebe. In her free time, Benay enjoys traveling, cooking, going to the movies, doing yoga, and exercising on her Peloton.
