Dorothy Vosik, DO
Resident Physician PGY2
ABOUT THE PROVIDER
Deep down, Dorothy Vosik, DO, always hoped that her career path and her love for life on the Delaware coast, would merge. In March 2024, it did, when she opened her Match Day envelope and learned that she would be spending the next three years at Beebe Healthcare, to complete her family medicine residency training.
With the opening of that envelope, Dr. Vosik officially became part of the second cohort of residents to join Beebe’s family medicine residency program, and will find herself comfortable at the onset, for good reason. She resides in Milton, Delaware, and spent a clinical rotation year at Beebe while working toward her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
“My experience at Beebe as a medical student was great. The attendings welcomed us with open arms and took the time to make sure we got a lot out of our clinical rotations,” said Dr. Vosik. “The idea of spending more time here and learning more from this team of people who are clearly committed to medical training and education, had a lot of appeal.”
Dr. Vosik also longed for an opportunity to train at Beebe for personal reasons. Her parents retired to Sussex County years ago, and she loved the idea of being close to them while pursuing her career goals. Additionally, she was enthused about the opportunity to be part of a family residency program that was recently established.
“I think it is exciting to be in a position where you can help build a program and set the tone for what it will become,” said Dr. Vosik. “I interviewed with other residency programs but Beebe is where I really wanted to be. I am at the very beginning of this journey but I already know I made the right choice.”
Dr. Vosik’s decided to pursue family medicine as her clinical specialty because of the broad scope of patients she will be able to interact with and treat. She is interested in caring for children, adults, and the geriatrics population.
“I want to know it all and do it all,” said Dr. Vosik. Dr. Vosik’s goals as a resident at Beebe are to have a full community medicine experience, and to gain more independence as a clinical provider. She thinks often of the doctor who provided her family’s medical care for many years, and the ways he inspired her by being a trusted and well-loved resource for so many people.
“He practiced into his 80’s and was so happy, every day at work,” recalls Dr. Vosik. “His patients loved him and respected him, and seeing those relationships made me want to be a doctor, too.”
When she is not working, Dr. Vosik enjoys thrift shopping, relaxing on the beach, and spending quality time with her two cats.
