Erica Melvin, MSN, APRN, AGAC-NP, is a certified adult gerontological acute care nurse practitioner at Beebe Healthcare. She provides care for patients admitted to the hospital, as a member of the hospitalist team. Erica works collaboratively with physicians, rounding throughout the hospital and ensuring clinical coverage on patient units, and supporting bedside nurses with patient care needs during the nightshift. Additionally, she supports the patient admission process, participants in rapid responses, and facilitates secure communication amongst providers. Erica is proud to work for Beebe, a place that offers a family-focused atmosphere and is known as the reputable “hometown” hospital.
Education, Training, and Credentialing
Erica earned an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Delaware Technical & Community College, followed by both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Wilmington University. Erica went on to complete a Post Masters Certificate as an adult gerontological acute care nurse practitioner through Walden University. Through this program, she became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Earlier Work Experiences
Before joining Beebe, Erica worked as an intensive care nurse at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Earlier in her career, she worked at Kent General Hospital, an affiliate of Bayhealth. Erica also served as an adjunct clinical instructor at Delaware Technical & Community College, where she oversaw the work of nursing students in clinical settings and collaborated with faculty members to ensure alignment between classroom materials and activities in clinical training settings.
Personal Notes
Outside of work, Erica enjoys being outdoors with her husband and their three children. The family spends a lot of time caring for animals on their small farm and horseback riding.
