Gianna Grogan, DO

Resident Physician PGY2

ABOUT THE PROVIDER

Gianna Grogan, DO, is thrilled to be working in an area that brings back so many fond childhood memories. Originally from southern Maryland, her family often vacationed in the Delaware beach towns. As Dr. Grogan began thinking about where to pursue training following graduation from medical school, the Family Medicine Residency program at the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare had immediate appeal, based on location alone. As Dr. Grogan learned more about the program, the stars truly aligned.

“I am especially interested in community medicine and wanted opportunities during my training to have impact both inside and outside of the hospital setting,” said Dr. Grogan. “Beebe is very engrained in the community, and there are so many ways to get involved here.”

It was during her interview with Joyce Robert, MD, FAAFP, director of the Family Medicine Residency, that Grogan solidified Beebe as a top choice program for her post-graduate training.

“Dr. Robert was so enthusiastic and is clearly very eager to grow the program,” recalls Dr. Grogan. “At the same time, she wanted to know more about me, my interests, and goals. She was very focused on what I want to get out of my training experience. It made me feel like I would be cared for and supported as a resident at Beebe.”

Dr. Grogan chose family medicine as her clinical specialty because she appreciates the value of continuity in care, and wants to be able to work with patients continuously over time as they age and their healthcare needs change. She also has a specialized interest in procedural care and preventive care, both of which are important components within the family medicine spectrum.

“Being able to develop long-term relationships with patients, and getting to know them on a personal level is important to me,” said Dr. Grogan, a graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. “I am excited about how much I will learn and how much I will grow as a person, through the work I am choosing to do. I am here to serve others, but know I will also gain a lot myself from the experiences I will have as a family medicine doctor.”

When she is not working, Dr. Grogan enjoys reading, playing the piano, crocheting, hiking, and taking long walks on the beach
