Kari Shearman, FNP

Kari Shearman, FNP-C, is a Palliative Care Family Nurse Practitioner at Beebe Healthcare. She sees patients at the hospital, the Beebe Palliative Care Long Neck office, the Tunnell Cancer Center, and the South Coastal Cancer Center. Kari’s work guides patients as they are making the critical transition out of the acute care setting. She assists with management of chronic diseases and serves as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical care providers, with focus on the delivery of care that aligns with the patient’s medical needs, health goals, and personal values. Kari aims to develop patient and family-centered plans of care to optimize quality of life.

Education, Training, and Credentialing
Kari is a graduate of Wilmington University, where she earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also earned an Associate degree in Nursing from Delaware Technical & Community College. Kari is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps.

Earlier Work Experiences
Prior to joining Beebe Healthcare, Kari worked at Fresenius Medical Care, serving patients in an outpatient hemodialysis clinic. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Home Health Nurse and Case Manager for both Millenium Home Care and Amedisys Home Health, and as an Emergency Department Nurse at Atlantic General Hospital.

Interests
Kari is a native of Sussex County and is grateful for the opportunity to provide impactful healthcare within the community she is passionate about and calls home. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and pursing all of the outdoor activities that go along with living life at the beach.
