Lawrence Kemp, MD, is a general neurologist who diagnoses and treats patients with dementias (such as Alzheimer’s, Lewy body disease, and frontotemporal dementia), movement disorders (including Parkinson’s and essential tremor), and neuromuscular diseases (such as myasthenia gravis). He also sees patients who have multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, migraines, and neuropathies. Dr. Kemp is a member of Beebe Healthcare’s medical staff and is committed to serving Sussex County as its population ages. He is especially passionate about increasing access to outpatient-based care, as Beebe’s continues to grow its neurology service offerings.
Education, Training, and Credentialing
Dr. Kemp is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he also completed training as a medical intern, neurology resident, and neurophysiology/neuromuscular fellow. He is certified in adult neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Kemp was recently recognized by Metropolitan Magazine as a Best in Healthcare Award winner and Coastal Hospice Excellence as a Quality of Life Award recipient.
Earlier Work Experiences
Prior to joining Beebe Healthcare, Dr. Kemp worked for Atlantic General Neurology, a hospital-employed practice that provides neurological care for patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Before that, he worked in private practice and also served as Medical Director for Compassionate Care Hospital, serving both Kent and Sussex Counties. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kemp also worked for Delaware Neurology Associates.
Personal Notes
Outside of work, Dr. Kemp focuses on quality time with his family and enjoys spending time outdoors and reading.
