Matthew Jacob, MD, is a board-certified infectious disease physician at Beebe Healthcare. He provides care for adults who are admitted to the hospital for treatment of a wide range of serious, complex, recurrent, difficult-to-treat, and antibiotic-resistant infections that involve bones, joints, wounds, prosthetic materials, and implanted devices. Dr. Jacob also has a specialized interest in HIV care and the treatment of opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients. He is committed to infection prevention across the healthcare system, in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and emphasizes the importance of clinical and administrative collaboration to achieve his goals.
Education, Training, and Credentialing
Dr. Jacob earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Antigua and his Bachelor of Human Health Sciences from Kasturba Medical College in India. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Western Reserve Health Education in Ohio, followed by a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York. Dr. Jacob is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the American College of Physicians (ACP), and the American Medical Association (AMA).
Personal Notes
When he is not working, Dr. Jacob enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, while looking for new ways to stay connected in his community. He has a strong appreciation for nature and enjoys swimming, hiking and cooking. He is also an avid traveler and is always excited to experience new places, cultures, and perspectives.
