ABOUT THE PROVIDER

At Beebe Healthcare

Nicholas DeStefano, MD, is a family medicine physician who serves as Associate Director of the Family Medicine Residency within the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare. He collaborates closely with medical residents, providing education, support, and mentorship for physicians who are new-to-practice and are being trained to serve families in Sussex County for generations to come. As a clinician caring for patients in the hospital setting, Dr. DeStefano provides comprehensive care for patients through the full spectrum of life – from birth through geriatrics. He has a special interest in women’s health, and is committed to use of evidence-based medicine in his practice.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. DeStefano earned his medical degree at the Wayne School of Medicine in Detroit and completed residency training with focus on family medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington. He is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Earlier Work Experiences

Prior to joining Beebe, Dr. DeStefano served as a faculty family medicine physician and resident research coordinator at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center located in Georgia. Before that, he worked at the Weed Army Community Hospital in California, serving as a family medicine physician before being promoted into a leadership role as Officer in Charge. Throughout his career Dr. DeStefano has demonstrated a commitment to advancing the practice of medicine through research and presentation efforts; his work has been published in peer-reviewed journal and books, and he has presented at several industry conferences. Dr. DeStefano also served in the United States Army and earned many honors and awards for his commendable service, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

Personal Notes

In his free time, Dr. DeStefano enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Kim, daughter Iris, and dog, Tater – a papillon/poodle mix. He enjoys visiting libraries and reading, playing board games, and rollerblading as a way of staying active and healthy.
