ABOUT THE PROVIDER

At Beebe Healthcare

Punit A. Pandya, DO, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon with advanced subspecialty training in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. He has joined Beebe Healthcare’s medical staff as part of Jefferson Health’s clinical affiliation with Beebe. He sees patients at the Milton Health Center and performs procedures at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus.

Dr. Pandya specializes in advanced treatments for conditions affecting the neck (cervical spine), upper back (thoracic spine), and lower back (lumbar spine). He offers both front (anterior) and back (posterior) surgical approaches to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves, stabilizes the spine through fusion, and when possible, preserves natural movement through motion-sparing surgeries.

Dr. Pandya’s expertise also includes brain surgeries, which are now being performed at Beebe's Lewes Campus. This involves procedures such as craniotomies to resect  brain tumors, relieve pressure inside the skull, manage increased intracranial pressure, divert excess cerebrospinal fluid, and treat other conditions affecting the brain.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. Pandya completed a prestigious Spine Fellowship at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He finished his Neurosurgery Residency at OhioHealth’s Grant Medical Center and Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. Dr. Pandya earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Earlier Work Experiences

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Pandya developed a strong foundation in neurosurgery, with a particular focus on spine surgery during his fellowship at Harvard–Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His residency at OhioHealth provided comprehensive exposure to all aspects of neurosurgery, enabling him to develop advanced surgical skills and gain a profound understanding of neurological disorders. Dr. Pandya has also contributed to the field through published research on neurologic assessment in brain-injured patients, management of odontoid fractures, and the management of acute spinal cord injury. Furthermore, he has authored a chapter on robotic spine surgery.

Dr. Pandya is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
