Serena Harris, APRN, NNP-BC, is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner who practices with Beebe Medical Group. She manages care for newborns from the time of their birth through discharge from the hospital. Serena specializes in care for high-risk infants, with focus on stabilizing newborns for transport to home and higher acuity facilities. She educates new parents on how to care for their infants and provides invaluable emotional support for families. Additionally, Serena serves as an educational resource for staff nurses. She is proud to be part of a dynamic team of neonatal specialists at Beebe, who are committed to caring for the community’s smallest patients and their families.
Education, Training, and Credentialing
Serena earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from the Borough of Manhattan Community College and her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix. She completed her Master of Science, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Connecticut.
Earlier Work Experiences
Serena has dedicated her nursing career to the specialized care of high-risk, premature, and newborn infants. She began her career as a clinical staff nurse in the medical intensive care unit at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York, later serving as a clinical nurse and nurse practitioner in the Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She held this role, while also working on a per diem basis as a neonatal nurse practitioner at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, prior to joining Beebe.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Serena enjoys spending time with family and friends, dining out, exercising, and visiting Delaware’s beautiful beaches.
