Sujay Alvencar, MD

Sujay Alvencar, MD, is a hepatologist and general gastroenterologist who practices at Beebe Healthcare. He diagnoses and treats patients with a wide range of complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Alvencar is experienced in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and pancreatic disorders, and also provides care for patients preparing for liver transplant surgery. He is committed to providing each patient with a comprehensive plan of care, designed to address their medical issues while improving their quality of life.

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. Alvencar is a graduate of the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his post-graduate training at Tufts Medical Center, starting with residency training in the Department of Internal Medicine and concluding with a fellowship in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, where he was appointed Chief Fellow. Dr. Alvencar is board certified in internal medicine and is board eligible in gastroenterology.

Earlier Work Experiences

While completing his clinical training at Tufts Medical Center, Dr. Alvencar provided care for patients with complex diagnoses, while also devoting time to clinical research. His work was presented at numerous industry conferences and published in several peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he served as an Internal Medicine Program Instructor, teaching first-year medical students through a combination of lectures, hands-on clinical training, and simulation exercises.

Personal Notes

Outside of work, Dr. Alvencar enjoys hiking, weightlifting, and exploring local parks at sunset with his wife and their dog.
