i.g. Burton opens up in the First Town and makes a First Donation to Beebe Healthcare!

i.g. Burton and Company, Inc., a 5th-generation, family-owned and operated car business, purchased the Lewes Automall in August 2016. In its first 30 days of operation at the Lewes location, i.g. Burton, decided to make a generous donation to Beebe Healthcare’s Cardiac and Vascular Services.

Charlie Burton, owner of i.g. Burton and member of the Beebe Medical Foundation Board, said, “Beebe has been the heart of this community for over 100 years and we wanted to make a gift that will truly help and save lives.” He cited Beebe Healthcare’s plans to add a new state-of-the-art, hybrid operating room, the first in Sussex County, at the Lewes campus, where cardiac and vascular procedures and surgeries will be performed, and also i.g. Burton’s plans to expand the existing cardiac electrophysiology and catheterization labs there where life-saving procedures are performed. These new operating and procedure rooms are part of Beebe’s upcoming expansion project and those to which i.g. Burton is contributing.

“Our company believes in contributing to the community we serve and our gift towards this new capital expansion project will hopefully encourage other local businesses and individuals to join us today in giving to Beebe so it can continue to provide quality healthcare for all our families,” Mr. Burton added.

Judy Aliquo, President and CEO of Beebe Medical Foundation, explained, “This tremendous gift from I. G Burton towards this important capital project is a powerful investment in our local nonprofit community healthcare system. Philanthropy has always been an integral part of Beebe’s growth through the years. Our long-term and growing partnership with i.g. Burton will strengthen our services to those who work, live and visit Sussex County. Charlie Burton has been actively participating on our Board as we look forward to this first phase of our capital expansion projects.”

Dr. Sean Ryan, a vascular surgeon at Beebe, shared, “I am excited to see this level of interest in improving technology which results ultimately in providing more quality care. Our great team will be able to provide a broader spectrum of procedures to our community. It is great to see i.g. Burton make such a generous gift at the onset of this capital expansion project.”

Dr. Sean Ryan and Dr. Carlos Neves, two fellowship-trained vascular surgeons, joined Lewes vascular surgeon Dr. Mayer Katz and Beebe’s Cardiac and Vascular Department last year. Dr. Neves added, “We have already increased the number of patients in our care, and once this new hybrid operating room is added to Beebe, we will be able to offer even more minimally invasive procedures and advanced care, in addition to complex procedures.”

As Beebe celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, it continues to grow and expand its service lines to our community. Lynn Amey, MHA, BSN, RN-BC, Executive Director of Beebe’s Cardiac and Vascular Services, explained, “We performed over 4,000 angioplasties and stents last year on arteries throughout the body. Our cardiac electrophysiology department has seen consistent growth since its beginning in 2012. We now offer a wide array of procedures to correct a variety of complex rhythm disorders within the heart, avoiding the need for community members to travel to larger centers. We are so thrilled to have this amazing gift from i.g. Burton and Co.

This year’s famous Beebe Ball is earmarked to raise funds for Cardiac and Vascular Services and its expansion project.
