Beebe Offers MRI and Open MRI

Beebe Healthcare is proud to offer the latest in both traditional 1.5Tesla (T) and 3T high field strength MRI and recently advanced 1.2T open MRI.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a non-invasive, painless, diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a permanent, super-conducting magnet to produce high resolution images of many parts of the body to diagnose and evaluate many disease processes. MRI scans typically last 30 to 60 minutes, during which time some patients fall asleep.

MRI may be used to evaluate ongoing any joint for patients with a history of trauma or pain, to diagnose torn ligaments, tendons or menisci or to evaluate for fractures not seen by xray. Imaging of the spine can be used to evaluate for herniated disk, fracture or tumor. MRI can also be used to evaluate the brain for TIA, stroke, headache and tumors, while MRA can evaluate blood vessels and blood flow to the brain as well as throughout the body. MRI can be used to evaluate other parts of the body, including all of the abdominal and pelvic organs.

Announcing Open MRI

“Beebe is committed to bringing advanced technologies like this open MRI system to patients in Sussex County,” says David A. Tam, MD, MBA, FACHE, President & CEO, Beebe Healthcare. “Our use of innovation helps create a better patient experience making an impact on the lives of those who live, work, and visit Sussex County.”

Beebe added Hitachi’s Oasis High-Field, 1.2 Tesla Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system to its list of diagnostic offerings.

Patients will be more comfortable during their MRI exam as the inside of the Oasis gantry provides a 270 degree unobstructed view, which minimizes anxiety and claustrophobia and creates a more pleasant environment for the patient.

The Open MRI combines unparalleled patient comfort with powerful technology and an ultra-fast workstation to make patient exams as quick and smooth as possible. Its imaging power is further boosted by an array of anatomically-specific, optimized receiver coils that allow advanced imaging for a wide range of applications.

Beebe Healthcare has acquired the new Oasis MRI system to offer physicians and the Sussex County community access to the most advanced diagnostic imaging techniques currently available in the healthcare industry.

Beebe Healthcare Open MRI is located in the Oak Orchard Professional Center, Suite #2, 26744 John J Williams Highway, Millsboro, 19966.
