Beebe Medical Foundation Launches "I Believe in Beebe" Campaign

The Beebe Medical Foundation and Beebe Healthcare proudly announced the I Believe in Beebe Campaign on October 29 with $29 million raised to date—an historic investment from the community for their healthcare system of choice in Sussex County. The goal set for the I Believe in Beebe Campaign is $34 million dollars. These funds will be used to support Beebe’s multifaceted expansion projects, allowing Beebe to better serve the growing community by adding state-of-the-art facilities throughout Sussex County. Now launching into the public phase of the Campaign, Beebe aims to raise an additional $5 million over the next 18-months to support its expanding services.

“Quality healthcare is so important; we are all going to need healthcare at various stages of our lives, and that is why we choose to support our local community, not-for-profit hospital,” said Terry and Vanessa Megee, I Believe in Beebe Co-Chairs, Beebe Medical Foundation.

The I Believe in Beebe Campaign is the largest campaign in Beebe’s 102-year history, the largest campaign in Sussex County and is supporting Beebe’s largest expansion. The I Believe in Beebe Campaign has inspired many donors to give the largest philanthropic gift they have ever given. “The quality of care speaks to the excellent physicians, nurses and clinicians as well as the talented administration and we believe in Beebe because it is in all of our best interest to support our local community hospital. Investing in Beebe is an investment in our future,” said Michael and Kelli Meoli, I Believe in Beebe Co-Chairs, Beebe Medical Foundation.

Notably, the Ma-Ran Foundation’s transformative gift of $10 million in July 2017 helped to accelerate the efforts of the campaign; their gift will go to enhancements at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, including converting semi-private rooms to private rooms, enhancements of the West entrance, and additional parking. The Foundation is thrilled to announce that Peggy and Randall Rollins are the Honorary Chairs of the I Believe in Beebe Campaign.

“The more we raise, the more we can do to continue to make Beebe the best it can be. The total estimation for Beebe Healthcare’s strategic expansion projects is estimated to be over $200 million. This is a great moment in Beebe’s history and I’d like to thank everyone for your support, and to our community for showing how you believe in Beebe,” said Judy Aliquo, President & CEO, Beebe Medical Foundation.

“We fittingly make this announcement on the historic steps of the Shaw building, Beebe hospital’s original section. It was through Helen and Benjamin Shaw’s benevolent donations in 1921 that allowed the hospitals to significantly expand early in its infancy. Fast forward to present day, we are so excited to build on Beebe’s rich history and foundation. Working and living close to our neighbors, delivering and creating the next generation of care, it’s an exciting time for residents,” said Thomas Protack, Vice President of Development, Beebe Medical Foundation.

Beebe Healthcare breaks ground on November 1 for its South Coastal Health Campus near Millville, which includes a second comprehensive cancer center and freestanding Emergency Department. Also included in Beebe’s plans are a new specialty surgical hospital on its Rehoboth Beach Health Campus, which will eventually house the health system’s women’s health service. Additionally, Beebe is applying with the state to build an additional freestanding Emergency Department in Georgetown.
