Yes, we will have many opportunities for teaching as we are a Core Clinical Campus for Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
We are able to offer many elective opportunities which include: Cardiology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Hematology/Oncology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Neurology, Palliative Care, Geriatrics, Allergy/Immunology, Critical Care, and Dermatology. Additional electives are being added regularly.
The main campus and other sites are located near Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. A car is necessary due to limited public transportation. There are areas, like Lewes, that are bike friendly.
There is a growing geriatric population in Sussex County with Medicare as the primary payer. Nearly one third of the residents are older adults, making geriatric care, chronic disease management, and preventative services especially critical. In addition, many areas in Sussex County are rapidly growing with younger families moving to the area.
Beebe encourages residents to participate in research and quality improvement initiatives. Several of our current resident physicians have presented at local and national conferences.
External moonlighting will be permitted on a case-by-case basis for PGY2 and PGY3 Resident Physicians.
