Elizabeth Rendall, RN, Named Winner of DAISY Award Following Nomination from Colleague at Delaware Hospice
Each month, Beebe Healthcare presents a DAISY Award to an outstanding nurse who goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional clinical and compassionate care for patients and their families. Elizabeth Rendall, RN, a nurse on the hospital’s Medical-Surgical Unit, was recently presented with this prestigious award, following review of more than 50 nominations (a new record) received from patients, their family members, and Beebe staff members.
Rendall received the DAISY Award based on a nomination submitted by a fellow nurse from Delaware Hospice. The nurse offered perspective on the care, compassion, and support Rendall provided for a young patient and the patient’s family during an especially difficult time. The nomination noted the profound impression Rendall’s dedication and professionalism have on both patients and her healthcare colleagues.
Beebe is one of thousands of hospitals and healthcare organizations across the U.S. that participate in the DAISY Foundation’s national award program, which honors the extraordinary compassion, clinical skill, and dedication that nurses demonstrate in their day-to-day work. The Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who died in the late 1990s due to complications of an autoimmune disease. Barnes’ family started the Foundation to recognize the critical role of nurses and the impact they have on patients and families, based on their own personal experiences. Beebe presents DAISY Awards every month, and accepts nominations on an ongoing basis.
