A local Sussex County family rang in a memorable New Year at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday with the birth of a baby boy. Andy Amilcar Tzoy Mendoza was the first baby born at Beebe Healthcare in 2025. Parents Rosa Mendoza Ortiz and Uber Amilcar Tzoy Torraza were very excited to welcome Andy and hear he was the first baby of the New Year. He weighed 6 pounds and 0.2 ounces with a height of 19 inches. A basket of newborn necessities was donated by the Labor & Delivery team along with a gift card and other Beebe gifts from the Beebe Medical Foundation.

Quality Commitment to Families

Baby-friendly hospitals like Beebe ensure every woman delivering a baby knows the importance of breastfeeding and learns not only the benefits of the practice, but also how to initiate breastfeeding immediately after delivery. Baby-friendly hospitals initiate skin-to-skin contact immediately after delivery or C-section, keeping moms and babies in the same room and supporting moms with breastfeeding through lactation consultants.

Additionally, Beebe is recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Safe Sleep Champion,” for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program was created to prevent infant sleep-related deaths due to accidental suffocation.
