Tunnell Cancer Center Infusion Nurses Win DAISY Team Award, Celebrating Clinical Excellence and Compassionate Care
Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center Infusion Nursing Team was recently honored as the recipient of a DAISY Team Award. This distinguished honor celebrates teams that exemplify collaboration, clinical excellence, and the delivery of outstanding compassionate care, while embodying the core values of both Beebe Healthcare and the DAISY Foundation.
Infusion Center nurses play an important role in caring for patients who experience a wide range of physical and emotional challenges as they receive treatment for cancer and other complex medical issues. The plan of care for many cancer patients involves frequent visits to the Infusion Center. The bonds that are built between patients and their care providers over time are deeply personal and meaningful. Nurses who work in the Infusion Center at Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center are known for treating their patients holistically - providing them and their families with guidance, support, encouragement, and empathy, every step of the way.
“We receive a lot of feedback from patients and their families that underscores just how special our infusion center nursing team is,” said Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Oncology Services at Beebe Healthcare. “The personalized care and compassion these clinicians demonstrate in their day-to-day work truly make a positive difference for people who are going through a lot and who value that they feel comforted and supported, each and every time they come into the hospital for treatment. DAISY awards are presented to both individual nurses as well as nursing teams who work in hospitals across the U.S. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who died from complications of an autoimmune disease in the late 1990s. The family’s goal was to create a platform for extraordinary nurses to be recognized for their commitment to caring for patients and families in ways that truly matter.
