Certified Nursing Assistant Valerie Biggs Named Winner of Beebe Healthcare’s Quarterly TULIP Award
Beebe Healthcare is proud to announce that Valerie Biggs, CNA, has been named winner of the hospital’s quarterly TULIP Award. This award celebrates clinicians who are Thoughtful, Unforgettable, and who make a Lasting Impact on Patient Care.
Beebe established the TULIP Award in September 2025 to honor the exceptional work of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) as well as Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs), Patient Care Associates (PCAs), and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) who work on clinical units across the healthcare system. It is one way the organization emphasizes that all members of the clinical care team are valuable and play an important role in the delivery of exceptional patient care services.
Biggs was nominated for the TULIP Award by five of her peers – including Charlene Madanat, CRNP. She offered perspective on the many ways her colleague supports all aspects of the patient care process, in ways that set a positive example and motivate others to be their best. Madanat explained that Biggs anticipates the needs of patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and takes the necessary steps to prepare before they even arrive. At the same time, she works swiftly and efficiently – answering call bells, assisting with ambulation, and stepping in to offer an extra hand when critical issues arise on their clinical unit.
“I am especially impressed in emergency situations; Valerie runs toward them rather than away,” noted Madanat, in her nomination.
Beebe has formed a dedicated selection committee to review nominations and choose TULIP Award winners who embody the values of the award as well as Beebe Healthcare’s overarching values and mission. Nominations are accepted from patients, family members, and Beebe team members on an ongoing basis and can be submitted by clicking here.
