His leadership priorities include managing the surgical services team, recruiting highly skilled surgical specialists, and maintaining a steadfast focus on quality, safety, program development, patient experience, and outcomes.
Dr. Zapas' impressive background includes serving as Medical Director of Surgical Specialists at Frederick Health Medical Group in Maryland and as an attending physician and Chief of Surgical Oncology at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center's Cancer Institute. He is a passionate advocate for minimally invasive surgery and performs nearly all of his procedures using the Da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System.
Over the years, Dr. Zapas has achieved numerous certifications in alignment with his clinical focus, including certification as a user of the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System and the CyberKnife Robotic Stereotactic System, Lean Six Sigma, and board certification by the American Board of Surgery.
“I'm excited to be a part of an organization that is committed to growth, with an appropriate emphasis on quality care and outcomes,” Dr. Zapas said.
