Beebe Introduces Clinical Care Providers to Serve Local High School Wellness Centers Across Sussex County

Beebe Healthcare is pleased to welcome several clinicians whose primary focus is to offer comprehensive primary care services in local high schools.

The organization’s school-based wellness programs are supported by the Delaware Department of Public Health and aim to make healthcare services more accessible for adolescents. These providers offer physicals and immunizations as well as acute care services for students with minor illnesses and injuries. Additionally, they provide confidential reproductive health consultations for students.

Joanna White, MS, FNP-BC, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who supports the Indian River Wellness Center. She is a two-time graduate of Salisbury University, where she earned both a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Bachelor of Science as a Registered Nurse. Years ago, she also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women’s Studies from Wake Forest University. White is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is registered as both and Advanced Practice Nurse and Registered Nurse in the state of Delaware.

Prior to joining Beebe, White worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Bayhealth. She practiced independently in a school-based wellness center, offering primary care, acute care, preventive health services, and reproductive health care for middle and high school students. Earlier in her career she worked for the Liberty Healthcare Corporation and in a private family practice, working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in both roles.

“I have been working in adolescent health in school-based health centers for many years,” said White. “I am excited to be working at Indian River, and to be part of my home community.”

Amanda Galloway, MSN, FNP-C, is an Advanced Practice Clinician who works at the Cape Wellness Center. In addition to her work in the school, she sees patients at several Beebe Walk-In Care Centers located across Sussex County. Galloway is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is licensed to practice as both a Registered Nurse and a Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Delaware.

Galloway initially joined Beebe in 2018 as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse on the observation unit. She eventually transitioned her role to be focused on walk-in care services, serving first as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and later as the Lead Advanced Practice Clinician. Earlier in her career, Galloway served in similar roles at Christiana Hospital as well as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, located in Philadelphia.

“I am passionate about health promotion and education, as well as increasing access to healthcare for populations that are traditionally under-served and under-insured,” said Galloway. “I love the communities we provide services for.”

Natalie Tyre, PA-C, is the Lead Advanced Practice Clinician in Sussex Central High School’s Wellness Center. Additionally, she works as a Physician Assistant at Beebe’s Walk-In Care Centers. Prior to joining Beebe, Tyre worked in several specialty-based physician practices, focusing on orthopaedics, pain management, internal medicine, family medicine, and women’s health.

Tyre is licensed by the Delaware Board of Physicians and the Maryland Board of Physicians and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Joining the Indian River School Based Wellness Center is Erica Pretel, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker. Erica meets with students one-on-one to address their mental health needs and provide support as each individual works to improve their overall wellbeing. She facilitates mental health evaluations for students and then implements treatment plans in line with their wellness goals. Erica is also a resource for students experiencing crisis. She utilizes cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness in working with teenagers who seek care for a wide range of challenges. Erica is interested in cultivating relationships with community partners, so that she can point students and families in need of extra support to valuable resources available across Sussex County.

Prior to joining Beebe, she worked as a psychotherapist for Alssaro Counseling Services in New York. Erica is a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work in New York City, where she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in literature from Sarah Lawrence College, located in Bronxville, New York. Currently, Erica is pursuing a certificate program that focuses on the application of Somatic Therapy in treating complex trauma.

"I'm passionate about working with teenagers and providing guidance that can help them manage their many emotions in ways that can change the trajectory of their lives," Pretel said.
