Beebe’s ‘Miracle Mile’ Celebrates Cancer Survivorship While Supporting the Special Needs of Patients
Each year, Beebe Healthcare hosts its “Miracle Mile” event to unite people whose lives have been touched by cancer and celebrate survivorship. This year, the event will be held Saturday, May 31, starting at Beebe’s Specialty Surgical Hospital, located at 19161 Health Way in Rehoboth Beach.
Walkers can meet at 9 a.m. at the Specialty Surgical Hospital and together will walk a lap around the Abessinio Health Campus.
“The Miracle Mile is more than just an event – it's a powerful reminder that no one faces cancer alone,” says Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Beebe Oncology Services. “It creates a beautiful moment where patients, families, and care providers come together to celebrate strength, share hope, and honor each person's unique journey.”
The Miracle Mile event supports Beebe’s Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund, which is facilitated by the Beebe Medical Foundation. This program provides financial assistance to cancer patients who are facing personal hardships, and who may have difficulty paying for prescriptions, co-pays, medications, living expenses, and transportation.
“Every cancer patient's path is different, and their needs extend far beyond medical care,” says Rita Williams, MA, CHES, NBC-HWC, Manager of Oncology Psychosocial Services at Beebe. “Through our Special Needs Fund, supported by Miracle Mile, we're able to address crucial barriers to care and ensure our patients can focus on what matters most – their healing journey.”
The Miracle Mile event is open to the public. To register to participate in the event, visit beebehealthcare.org/calendar/foundation-events/miracle-mile-2025. For more information, call 302-291-6707.
