Healthcare Explorations Day 2024

The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing hosted an enriching and informative Healthcare Exploration Day on Tuesday, Dec. 17, welcoming over 150 local high school students from a variety of schools, including Cape Henlopen, Indian River, Sussex Central, Sussex Tech, Sussex Academy, Polytech, and Milford High School.

This exciting event provided students with a unique opportunity to explore a broad range of healthcare pathways and careers, including nursing, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, medical residency, Beebe Medical Group, sterile processing, medical laboratory services, volunteer services, and talent acquisition. By fostering these connections, Beebe is working to cultivate a strong and dynamic healthcare workforce for years to come.

Beebe team members educated and inspired the next generation of healthcare professionals by introducing them to the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available within Beebe. It also aimed to educate students on the various pathways to pursue these careers, whether through certifications, degree programs, or specialized training. By showcasing the many different roles that contribute to a thriving healthcare system, the event highlighted Beebe's ongoing commitment to recruiting and retaining talented professionals who will help meet the healthcare needs of the local community.

In addition to learning about the different healthcare professions, students also had the opportunity to connect with local colleges and universities (Delaware Tech, Wilmington University, Sussex Tech Adult Education, & Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing) that were present at the event. These institutions provided valuable information on how students can pursue relevant certifications, degrees, and continuing education programs right here in the local area, making it easier for them to stay in Sussex County while building their careers in healthcare.

“This event was a tremendous collaborative effort, made possible by the dedication and hard work of many Beebe team members,” said Alison Watson, faculty member and student nurse recruiter at the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing. “We hope that this will be the beginning of ongoing, interactive relationships with local high schools, giving students the opportunity to learn firsthand about healthcare careers and the many ways they can contribute to the future of healthcare in Sussex County.”
