New Physician Assistants Join Beebe, Serving Patients Who Seek Care in Walk-In Centers

Beebe Healthcare is pleased to welcome two new physician assistants to Beebe Medical Group, both of whom practice at local Walk-In Care Centers.

Robert Barwick, PA-C, provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses including ear infections, cold and flu, COVID-19, urinary tract infections, abdominal pain, and COPD. He also can address joint pain and minor orthopaedic injuries. Barwick sees patients of all ages.

Barwick has a wealth of experience in primary care, urgent care, and emergency medicine. Locally, he has worked for Wagner and Prigg Family Medicine, and Aspira Health/Atracare, both located in Lewes. Before pursuing a career in healthcare, Barwick was as a fisheries biologist at the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.

Barwick earned both his Bachelor of Science in Zoology and his Master of Science in Fisheries Science from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He went on to complete his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at East Carolina University, located in Greenville, North Carolina. Barwick is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

“Beebe is a good fit for me because it is an organization that encompasses the same values that are important to all healthcare partners: treating others in the community with kindness and respect, and demonstrating a commitment to improved health and mobility,” said Barwick.

Emma Klier, PA-C, leverages her experience in pediatric, internal, and emergency medicine, as she is caring for patients seeking care in Beebe’s Walk-In Care Centers. She treats some of the most commonly diagnosed acute illnesses including the flu, COVID-19, ear infections, and abdominal pain. Additionally, Klier addresses minor injuries that require immediate medical evaluation and treatment. She sees patients aged 6 months and older.

Klier earned her combined Bachelor/Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. While pursuing her physician assistant certification and training, she completed clinical rotations in a variety of specialties including family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and general surgery. During this time, Klier assisted with outpatient surgeries, physical exams, discharge planning, treatment for acute injuries, medication management, and chronic disease and behavioral health surveillance.

“I feel fortunate that I am in a position to care for the people of Sussex County – a place I grew up visiting often and now call home,” said Klier, who is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. “Beebe has a welcoming environment where learning and growth is fostered, and I am excited to be here.”
