Proceeds from Annual Joan & Jean Golf Tournament Benefit Oncology Patients and Programs at Beebe Healthcare
Every year, the Jean & Joan Golf Tournament raises money in support of Beebe Healthcare. The 26th annual tournament was recently held at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, and more than 120 golfers participated, raising $39,479 for Beebe Oncology Services.
Proceeds from the Jean & Joan Golf Tournament are directed to Beebe Medical Foundation and are used to offset costs local patients face when they are undergoing treatment for cancer – from transportation and medications to essential supplies. Additionally, funding generated by this special community event helps Beebe invest in new technologies and programs to optimize the care experience for cancer patients.
Over the years, it has supported the purchase of multiple patient transport vans, a new diagnostic system, a prosthesis fitting station, 3D mammography equipment, and a blanket warmer. Funds from the golf tournament have also made it possible for Beebe to expand its reference library and create a wellness education program for cancer patients in recovery and remission.
The Jean & Joan Golf Tournament honors the memory of Jean James and Joan Martin and has raised more than $800,000 since its inception in 1999. This year, Jim Martin received special recognition in celebration of his vision, leadership, and dedication to growing the event over the past 26 years. Additionally, a young, rising golf star, Alice Baich, was celebrated as the youngest player to compete in all three tournaments of the Beebe Charitable Golf Series: the Jean & Joan Tournament as well as the Baywood Classic and the South Coastal Classic.

Beebe Medical Foundation was proud to receive acknowledgements from Senator Brian Pettyjohn and Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester, both noting the remarkable legacy of the Jean & Joan Golf Tournament and the positive impact it has had on Sussex County over time. Plans are already underway for the 27th annual tournament, to be held in fall 2026.
