Beebe offers “Healthy Living with Diabetes” classes

Beebe offers 6-week workshops for diabetes

Delawareans now have more options when it comes to learning how to live a healthy life with diabetes.

Throughout the state, certified facilitators are available to teach free, 6-week classes on how to take an active role in managing your diabetes. These diabetes self-management classes focus on learning about various tools and techniques to help manage diabetes, developing action plans and sharing experiences. You are able to attend with a caregiver or loved one so that they can continue to support you in your health goals.

Receive Diabetes Health Tips!

This class is offered as a small-group format. You will meet with the group once a week for six weeks.

Each week, you will learn about a specific topic and you will make weekly action plans. The group works together to help each other solve problems when it comes to diabetes and health.

In many cases, the groups allow new friendships to form and participants can continue working with each other on their own at the end of the program.

The sessions really focus on building skills, sharing experiences, and supporting each other. The goal is to empower people to take an active role in their health and teach them various tools that can help them to live well.

Check your local health calendars or newspapers to find the programs, which may be entitled, “Healthy Living with Diabetes” or called Diabetes Self-Management. To find programs that might be offered near you, visit: https://www.healthydelaware.org/Individuals/Diabetes/Self-Management-Program.
