Beebe Healthcare February 2026 Winter Storm Updates

UPDATE 2/26/2026: Power has been restored and Georgetown Walk-In Care will open at 9 a.m. today. In-person primary care, lab, imaging, women’s health, and physical rehabilitation services at Georgetown remain closed for the day. All other locations will resume normal operations.

Beebe Healthcare Restores Normal Operations Following Winter Storm

Beebe Healthcare is pleased to share that following several days of winter weather impacts across Sussex County, all but one Beebe location will return to normal operations on Thursday, Feb. 26.

The Georgetown Health Center will remain closed due to ongoing power instability in the area. There will be no in-person primary care, walk-in care, lab, imaging, women’s health, or physical rehabilitation services on Thursday. Patients who had scheduled appointments have been contacted to set up an alternative plan.

A Week of Extraordinary Teamwork

Throughout the storm, Beebe team members worked around the clock to maintain safe, reliable care for Sussex County:

  • Clinical and support teams stayed overnight at the Lewes and South Coastal campuses to ensure patients continued receiving uninterrupted care.
  • Environmental Services and Food Service teammates took on extended shifts and supported operations as travel conditions limited staffing.
  • Operational and nursing leaders transported team members between local hotels and Beebe campuses to ensure units remained safely staffed.
  • Physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and care teams shifted to virtual visits where appropriate, and staff worked diligently to reschedule or relocate patients to keep appointments and procedures on track.
  • Home Health teams prioritized vulnerable patients and navigated difficult conditions to reach those most in need. . Cape Pharmacy was one of the first outpatient pharmacies to open and provide medications to patients. Lab, Imaging, and Rehab services jumped into action as soon as care sites were ready.
  • In just a few hours, Walk‑In Care, Community Outreach, and Population Health teams launched a plan for Beebe’s first mobile Walk‑In Clinic, an innovative model that will serve as a template for future needs.
  • Facilities teams worked 24/7 clearing sidewalks, addressing icy areas, managing elevator and building systems, and responding to intermittent power issues across several sites.
  • Information Technology teams constantly maintained system stability, rerouted phone lines, and supported virtual care capabilities during widespread power outages in the county.

These efforts reflect the strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication of Beebe team members across the organization.

Thank You, Sussex County

Beebe Healthcare extends its sincere appreciation to the community for its patience, flexibility, and support over the past several days.
